Dr. Anoush Margaryan
Full Professor of Learning and Technology, Copenhagen Business School

Anoush Margaryan is Full Professor of Learning and Technology in the Department
of Digitalization at Copenhagen Business School.
Her research explores how people learn and develop skills in the workplace, with a
particular focus on how technologies and professional learning practices are
mutually shaped. Her most recent research has examined the implications of AI for
the development of human capabilities.
Professor Margaryan’s interdisciplinary work draws on the learning sciences,
psychology, sociology, and organisational studies. It is grounded in theories of
human agency, human self-direction and self-regulation, and the life course in
learning and development.
She has 140 scientific publications, including two books, co-authored with more than
55 international collaborators. She has led over 20 research projects spanning
interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international partnerships, with funding from the
UK Economic and Social Research Council, Shell, BP, the Energy Institute, the
European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), the
Volkswagen Foundation, the Carlsberg Foundation, and the World Bank.
She has received several international awards for research excellence, including
Alexander von Humboldt Senior Fellowship (2016), Excellence in Research-to-
Practice Award from the American Society for Training and Development (2005), and
the Shell Research Fellowship (2008), among others.
Professor Margaryan holds a PhD in Educational Science and Technology (2006)
and an MSc in Educational and Training Systems Design (1998) from the University
of Twente, as well as an MA in Philology (1997) from Yerevan State University.
